Calling all Twins & Multiples! In several weeks, everybody will be seeing double in Connecticut – but don’t adjust your glasses! For the first time in its 90-year history, the International Twins Association (ITA) will hold a convention in New England – and it will take place in Connecticut!
Twins, multiples, and surviving multiples of all ages from across the nation will converge at the Marriott/Hartford Windsor Airport Hotel in Windsor, Conn. (just north of Hartford) from Thursday, September 1 through Sunday, September 4. Founded in 1932 by twins and for twins, the International Twins Association was and is a family-oriented organization that seeks to promote the intellectual, spiritual and social welfare of twins and multiples throughout the world.
This year’s 86th annual International Twins Association Convention’s Opening Ceremony is on Friday, September 2 at the hotel with dinner, dancing, a 50/50 raffle, and Twin Bingo! The multi-day convention includes a full schedule of daytrips to picturesque sites that include Thursday tours of Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass., Friday visits to the Mystic Seaport Museum and Downtown Mystic, and a Saturday trip to Newport, RI including a visit to the Breakers Mansion. Sunday activities at the hotel include a Gospel Hour, Business Meeting, and a Twins Look-Alike Judging Contest, which all lead up to the Sunday evening Dinner/Dance Finale with the theme, “Early Autumn in New England.”
“Our International Twins Association convention is held in a different state each Labor Day weekend, “explains Cheryl Hollar who is Co-President of the organization with her twin sister, Meryl Hollar. “ITA’s members chose Connecticut for the 2022 event because we knew it would be a beautiful location with lots to see and do this time of the year.”
“These fun-filled conventions always offer many opportunities for twins to meet other twins, while we discover wonderful local attractions at the same time,” says Co-President Meryl Hollar. “People can register now online and can also walk in and register at the hotel at the time of the convention.” The ITA is working with the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTmeetings) to enhance their members’ convention experiences.
