Two Games on Tuesday, July 16 at Rentschler Field

HARTFORD, CT – This Tuesday, July 16, the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTCSB) will welcome soccer fans from all over the nation to the 2013 Central America and the Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup games at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Cuba and Belize will kick off the double header action at 5:30 p.m., followed by an 8:00 p.m. rematch of March 22’s “Snow Bowl”, where the United States will battle Costa Rica.
 
“This is the first time since 2006 that the U.S. Men’s Soccer Team in Connecticut, and that only adds to the excitement of holding the CONCACAF Gold Cup’s final round of Group C games here,” explains Curt Jensen, Director of Sports Marketing for the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau. “The games will generate more than 3,000 room nights for Greater Hartford, with the athletes, their coaches and families, and their fans utilizing multiple hotels. The economic impact to our region from this tournament is projected to exceed $2 million.”
 
The CONCACAF Gold Cup is held every two years at a mix of historic venues and brand state-of-the-art soccer facilities around North America. The 2013 edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup promises to provide fans with unforgettable atmospheres, both in stadiums and at home. In 2011, the Gold Cup drew more than 600,000 fans throughout the13 match-days, including nine sell-outs.
 
In addition to the action on the field, fans are invited to enjoy two special events to celebrate the important games. The events hosted by the American Outlaws, an unofficial supporter group for the U.S. soccer team whose goal is to unite and strengthen U.S. fans across the country:
 
      · Monday, July 15 at 7 p.m. – Fan Party at City Steam Brewery Café at 942 Main St. in Hartford. Connecticut Outlaws will join with American Outlaw brothers and sisters from across the nation for the night before the final Gold Cup group stage game. Fans will gather in the game room with refreshments and games.
 
      · Tuesday, July 16 from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Pre-Game Tailgate at Lot 9 (East Gate Entrance). The American Outlaw family invites everyone to come celebrate before “the Yanks take on Snowsta Rica!” The grilled food will be complimentary, but they will be collecting tips for their volunteer cooks! At 7 p.m., the crowd will gather and march to the stadium as one big family.
